Curriculum
The Art Unit
At Pei Hwa, we aim to cultivate creativity, skill development, and personal growth by encouraging participants to explore artistic mediums and enhance their technical abilities. This is achieved through exploring the different craft types in both 2D and 3D art forms.
Pupils in the lower secondary are introduced to observational drawing, photography and ceramics while upper secondary pupils are equipped with painting, printmaking and critique skills. These units foster experimentation and collaboration, ultimately fostering a lasting appreciation for artistic expression.
The Design & Technology Unit
The Design and Technology unit aims to ignite a passion for creativity, problem-solving, and innovation in our pupils. Through the curriculum, they will embark on a dynamic process of understanding and addressing real-world challenges. They will learn to unravel the intricate web of user requirements, gaining insight into the core needs and desires that drive design. From there, they will explore the exhilarating realm of ideation, nurturing their creative thinking skills and transforming ideas into feasible, innovative concepts. Pupils will also be equipped with hands-on skills required to realise these prototypes from 3 resistive materials (Acrylic, Wood and Metal).
As students engage in the design thinking process, they will develop a sense of confidence, pride, and tenacity. They will learn invaluable life skills that will empower them not only throughout their secondary school journey but also as they step into the challenges of higher education and the professional world.
